I am the staff governor on the Governing Body and have been since November 2022. I previously held this role between 2017 and 2021. I enjoy being part of the Governors and relish the opportunity to be a part of the wider life of the school.
I have taught at Kirkby Stephen Primary School since I qualified as a teacher in 2012. I have predominantly taught in KS2, mainly in Year 3 and 4. I returned from maternity leave in February of this year and have been teaching in Year 5. I am continuing to teach in Year 5 for the academic year 2023-2024.
In 2001, I moved to Kirkby Stephen with my parents when I was 11 and attended the Grammar School before studying Psychology at Leeds and followed this up with a PGCE in Carlisle at the University of Cumbria. Kirkby Stephen Primary School was my final placement school and I have been there ever since. I love working at KSPS, the children are fantastic and I enjoy working with all of the staff and parents to ensure we provide the highest quality education we can for our children. The community of Kirkby Stephen is a big part of mine and my partner Jonny’s lives as we both live and work here.
We have two children Oliver who is five and is in year 1 at Kirkby Stephen Primary School and Jack who is 1. As a family we enjoy spending time together and socialising with friends. We love to go on holiday particularly skiing, which has become our annual family holiday after I learnt to ski while on maternity leave five years ago.
